Education Project

Education project is running successfully.

Brief Update On Costings and Works Carried Out.

IT WAS VERY IMPORTANT THAT WE UPGRADED THE SCHOOL WITH THE BASIC FACILITIES AND FOR THAT PURPOSE WE ASKED FOR DONATIONS AND THANKS TO ALL OF YOU FOR THAT.

1. All THE VILLAGERS INCLUDING THE HEADTEACHER USED TO COMPLAIN THAT THERE WAS NO COMPOUND WALL AND THE BUFFALOS USED TO GET INTO THE SCHOOL AND EAT ALL THE PLANTS. CHILDREN USED TO GET DISTRACTED SO WE BUILT COMPOUND WALLS COSTING AROUND £2000.

2. SCHOOL HAD DIRTY WALLS AND DARK ROOMS SO WE REPAINTED THE WHOLE SCHOOL AND REPAIRED ALL ELECTRIC COSTING AROUND £1200

3.THE SCHOOL TOILETS WERE NOT IN GOOD STATE, HAD LACK OF WATER SUPPLY SO WE DUG UP A WELL, UPGRADED PLUMBING COSTING AROUND £300.

4. THE SCHOOL PLAYGROUND USE TO GET MUDDY IN THE RAINY SEASON SO WE LAID CONCRETE FLOOR THIS COSTING AROUND £1000.

5. SCHOOL HAS BROKEN WINDOW AND DOORS WHICH WERE REPLACED COSTING AROUND £1200.

6. ALL THESE EXPENSES TOTALLED TO THE SUM AMOUNT OF £6000.

YOU MAY KNOW THAT WE HAVE SEVEN CLASSES IN OUR SCHOOL BUT ONLY 5 TEACHERS SO HEAD TEACHERS AND VILLAGERS REQUESTED FOR TWO TEACHERS.AND AFTER A LOT OF DISCUSSION OUR COMMITTEE AGREED TO SUPPLY ONE EXTRA TEACHER WHICH IS COSTING AROUND £400 PER YEAR. THANKS TO KISHORE BHAI FOR HIS DONATION FOR THIS.

SO A FAIR LOT OF WORK DONE SO FAR AND AS MANY OF YOU MAY HAVE SEEN OR HEARD OUR VILLAGE SCHOOL IS CLEAN WITH BASIC FACILITIES.

THIS MAY SOUND A LITTLE BASIC BUT IS A VAST IMPROVEMENT AND IF YOU WERE TO VISIT THE VILLAGE YOU WOULD NOTICE THE CHANGE IN VIEWS TOWARDS THE EDUCATION ACCORDING TO VILLAGERS.

PLEASE BE NOTED THAT THIS IS AN ONGOING PROJECT AND THERE IS STIIL LOT OF THINGS WE NEED TO DO AND AS I HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY WOULD KINDLY ASK YOU ALL THAT SHOULD YOU WISH TO DONATE TO THIS SUCCESSFUL PROJECT.

PLEASE EMAIL bharat7@btinternet.com

I WOULD ALSO LIKE TO THANK VANITA FOR HER CONTRIBUTION FOR GOING ALL THE WAY TO TAVDI AND TEACHING AT OUR VILLAGE SCHOOL. AN EXCELLENT CONTRIBUTION AND A PERFECT EXAMPLE FOR US.

Once again Thank you for all your support
BHARAT D. PATEL Vice President Shree Tavdi Gramya Sudharak Mandal.

History

It has been said that our ancestors came from the north (some say from Saurastra) approximately three hundred years ago and inhabited a village near the banks of the River Purna. During this time there were lots of trees in this village, called Tavda and it was from the name of these trees that this Village was called TAVDI.

Irrigation Project

For many years Tavdi has been waiting for an irrigation system to provide much needed water for crops. Although tremendous effort has been put into this during the past few years, there has been no success. Neighbouring villages have, however, benefited from irrigation schemes.

At long last Tavdi Village now has an irrigation scheme, thanks to financial help from Shree Babubhai Bhikabhai Patel of New Zealand and the hard work, dedication and effort of all the villagers.

This project is very important to our village and although only the beginning, on-going help from villagers is essential for success. We thank Shree Babubhai Bhikabhai Patel for supporting the irrigation project.

We plan to bring you news and pictures relating to the development of Tavdi’s irrigation scheme. So please come back to this page at some time.

It was a fantastic day that allowed people to meet their family and friends whilst enjoying a day of fun activity for everyone. Taking part was fun and an there was an energetic build up to an afternoon of exciting cricket and other activities. Also raising funds for an important cause. There was also be an expert cricket coach (ECB certified) on hand to provide helpful tips for the young cricketers.

Delicious refreshments, light lunch and dinner were also be provided.

This event was in honour of the late Khandubhai Morarbhai Patel, who was a very supportive and positive president who championed the Tavdi Village cause and who was keen to see this event be successful.
